Japanese Ambassador Kenichiro Sasae hosted a reception at his residence for Congressional Hispanic Institute fellows, alumni, and staff who will be traveling to Japan as part of the Kakehashi exchange program.

The U.S.-Japan Caucus hosted a meeting on Capitol Hill with U.S. Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy. The group discussed security, trade, and other pressing issues for the region.

The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation and the Japan-United States Friendship Commission hosted a symposium on Captiol Hill entitled "Asia's Space Race and the U.S.-Japan Alliance." Congressman Castro participated in the event and offered his thoughts on the future of space-related U.S.-Japan cooperation.

Congressman Castro Attended the Japan-America Society's 29th Annual Dinner and discussed the importance of the U.S.-Japan alliance for the future of our nations and the entire Asia-Pacific region.

The U.S.-Japan Caucus joined with the Congressional Study Group on Japan and Sasakawa USA for a breakfast briefing on Japan's new security legislation nd the future of regional security in Northeast Asia. Asistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs David Shear and Admiral Dennis Blair, Chairman and CEO of Sasakawa USA, led the conversation.

In August of 2015, U.S.-Japan Caucus Founding Co-Chair Joaquin Castro traveled to Japan where he met with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, and many other government officials and business leaders. Fellow caucus member Congressman Steve Cohen made the trip to Japan as well.
